Turn glitter-striped ribbon into a small decorative flower arrangement.
Gather your supplies
- One 1.5-inch x 10-yard purple/orange ribbon roll, RG0176523.
- Three dowels or pieces of thick floral wire for stems.
- Your measuring tool, scissors, hot-glue gun and glue sticks as needed.
- Optional floral tape and leaves.
Choose stem lengths for your display. This ribbon gives a different appearance from the sheer ribbon pictured in the original project.
Cut the petals
For each rose, cut 14 inner pieces about 3 inches long and four outer pieces about 4 inches long.
For three roses, prepare 42 inner and 12 outer pieces. The plan allocates 174 nominal inches from a 360-inch roll, leaving 186 inches for adjustments, trimming and practice.
Fold and assemble
- Lay a piece horizontally. Fold its upper-left corner down to the lower edge, then bring the remaining lower-left corner inward to meet it. Repeat on the right. Secure the folds with small dots of glue. Fold all pieces this way.
- For one rose, use 14 inner petals with folds underneath. Glue them into an overlapping row, with each next petal covering about half of the previous one along the straight edge.
- Glue the stem to the first petal and wrap it tightly around the stem. Add glue as you continue winding the row more loosely.
- Glue the four larger petals around the outside individually, adjusting their spacing.
- Once the glue has set, add optional stem tape and leaves. Repeat for the other two roses.
Keep glue amounts small so the petals can roll, and take care with hot glue and cut wire ends. This version uses glue rather than flame.
